Allow me to make one clarification, because you are probably wondering what's going on regarding the March 21st, 2009 journal entry.

As is the case with many of the things I wrote back then, buried beneath layers of embellishment there exists a kernel of truth. I did, in fact, know Liam as a child. We did, in fact, take violin lessons from the same teacher, and we both switched to taking lessons from Mrs. Clive around the same time. There is a photo of both of us from back when we were children, however that photo does not depict us "holding hands" - the photo in question is a group picture of Ms. June's violin studio taken after a recital in which Liam and I are standing next to each other. However, this doesn't make for a compelling story of star-crossed lovers linked by fate, hence, well, embellishment.

This mixture of fantasy and truth is something you'll have to get used to. It's not uncommon for teenagers to fantasize, especially in their diaries. Fortunately, in many cases, there are multiple documents from the same event that, when compared, enables the reader to determine which is more accurate and which is not. Sometimes, the scene described as being fiction is, in fact, real and that which is described as the truth is, in fact, fictitious. This was something I frequently did in order to write about true events online with the cover/excuse that they were fictitious, and, conversely, to write deeply private daydreams in my diary, a source of catharsis for me.

Like I said earlier, I am not always able to discern which of the depictions was more accurate, as the events in question happened over ten years ago. As the jury of this case, I leave many elements up to your discretion. Please keep this in mind as we progress into one of the first major events documented in different media.
