Kate Wagner is an architecture and cultural critic. She is the creator of the blog McMansion Hell, which throughly examines the McMansion and uses it as a tool for architectural education and cultural commentary. Wagner has written about architecture, design, and culture for numerous publications including The Baffler, The Atlantic, CityLab, and The Nation and has served as a columnist at Curbed and The New Republic.In 2020, shortly after delivering the Brendan Gill Memorial Lecture in Architectural Criticism at Yale, Wagner took a sabbatical from architecture to pursue sports journalism. She has covered two Tours de France, the Vuelta a Espana, and much more, and is considered an insider with regard to Slovenian cycling. Currently, Wagner splits her time between her two disciplines as well as between Chicago and Ljubljana.
